The Internet is a source of huge convenience for many things that concern money.
It is also a Wild West hunting ground for psychopaths and other predators.
Problem is: it’s often hard or sometimes impossible to tell the difference.
That’s true in the face-to-face world, too, of course.
And to make things even trickier, years of reliable trustworthiness don’t mean that yesterday’s honest person isn’t going to rip you off tomorrow.
On the Internet, the bandits have even learned how to game the review websites, many of which are filled with fake endorsements.
And when it comes to the payments process on the Internet, the millions of credit and debit card numbers that are used to defraud merchants daily has given birth to a whole industry of fraud prevention services.
In the health professions, the bad guys are the viruses; cancer cells; and assorted bacteria and other bugs. Always managing to stay ahead of the medics’ killer treatments. It’s the same in the money professions. The bandits morph and re-emerge in different guises daily.
This website is all about community action against the predators. But much more than that, it’s about ridiculing them. Turning them into the hunter hunted.
