The Internet is not your friend. It is a tool.
The people who use the Internet are not your friends either. They are “other users”.
DON’Ts
Never assume that anything you read or see or hear on the Internet is true. AI can make anything seem true when it’s not.
Never trust anyone or anything you encounter on the Internet.
Don’t let anyone talk you into giving them your money or your personal details.
Don’t use the Internet if you’re under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
Don’t empty your garbage on the Internet: garbage attracts rats.
DOs
Use the Internet as a convenience.
Use your own judgement as to who to interact with.
Keep your reliance on the Internet to a minimum.
Delete messages of any kind if you don’t recognise the sender.
Treat the Internet the same way as your oven: convenient to cook food; painful or lethal if it burns you.
